More about VicNoTill
VicNoTill formed in the Wimmera in Western Victoria in 2002 with the idea of helping farmers achieve better results at harvest time while encouraging greater adoption of sustainable and profitable food production systems. As farming systems have evolved significantly since that time, VicNoTill has also evolved.
With a passionate farmer-led board we encourage innovation by focusing on whole farming systems that replenish and regenerate soils for future generations, while remaining profitable. Context is critical so we are continually adapting and openly sharing our on-farm findings to help others move their systems forward.
Our farmers are sharing diverse and adaptable techniques that combine minimum or zero-tillage, stubble retention, biology and nutrition, living roots in soils, plant diversity, integrating livestock into broadacre cropping, multi-species covers and other ‘good farming’ practices.
President Dan Fox attended his first VicNoTill conference in 2017 and joined the VicNoTill board in 2021. He says the best thing about being part of VicNoTill is that everyone has a common goal to improve their farms.
We might be at different stages of where we want to get to and how we are getting there but we’re all in this together and can help each other by sharing and broadening our knowledge.
“Being part of the VicNoTill board is extremely rewarding, both from learning and sharing perspectives. When you host overseas farmers like a group from New Zealand who were part of our 2023 conference, it hits home that the innovation happening right here in our soils is leading global change. That’s a pretty humbling experience.
“The VicNoTill network has been doing this for 21 years and behind our success is the board members who have stepped up and brought their knowledge and experience to the table to help drive our organisation forward.”
